Marie Wallace Seniors Exercise Park
A purpose-built outdoor exercise park for seniors at Ferntree Gully, delivered for Knox City Council — timber and steel fitness stations under a large shade sail on synthetic turf, with equipment users can tailor to their own fitness level.
What the client needed
Knox City Council wanted a dedicated seniors exercise park that encouraged older residents to stay active outdoors. The space needed adjustable, low-impact equipment under shade, with safe surfacing and seating for rest breaks.
The exercise area sits within a busy park precinct near existing facilities. Footings for the shade sail posts and equipment stations required careful placement to avoid underground services, and the synthetic turf needed proper drainage and base preparation to perform long-term.
What we delivered
We prepared the site with drainage and base works, then installed synthetic turf across the full exercise area and erected a large black shade sail over the main equipment zone. Bench seating was installed at the perimeter, and new garden beds and concrete pathways connect the space to the surrounding park.
