Project Overview

A full renewal of the play space at Maygar Grey Box Woodland Reserve, Broadmeadows, for Hume City Council — the 20-year-old playground replaced with a new playspace, full-size basketball court and outdoor gym, built around protected grey box woodland.

What the client needed

Hume City Council needed the aging play space at Maygar Grey Box Woodland Reserve in Broadmeadows replaced. The existing equipment was over 20 years old and no longer met current standards. Council wanted a space that offered more than just a playground, with active recreation options for older kids and adults alongside the play equipment.

The reserve sits within a grey box woodland setting, so works had to be staged carefully to protect the established native trees and understorey. The site also needed significant earthworks and new drainage to support the expanded footprint of the basketball court and gym area.

What we delivered

We removed the old playground and built the new space from the ground up, with new pathways, bench seating, and colourful softfall surfacing throughout the play zones.
