Cid Mariani
City of Boroondara
Full replacement of the aging playground at Norway Reserve, Canterbury, for the City of Boroondara — demolition, regrading and new drainage, then an inclusive playspace built through winter while the reserve stayed partially open to the public.
What the client needed
The City of Boroondara needed the aging playground at Norway Reserve in Canterbury fully replaced. The existing equipment was past its useful life and the space no longer met current accessibility or safety standards. Council wanted an inclusive playspace that served the whole community: younger kids, older kids, and families with accessibility needs.
The site sits within an established residential area with mature trees that needed protecting during works. Existing drainage had to be reworked to accommodate the new layout, and the project ran through winter, requiring careful staging to manage wet ground conditions while keeping the reserve partially open for the public.
What we delivered
We demolished the existing playground, regraded the site, and installed new drainage before building the new playspace from the ground up, finished with rubber softfall to AS 4422 and accessible concrete paths connecting every play zone.
Key features
- Accessible pathways throughout
